A dispute over how much the Bank of England is owed in legal costs following the collapse of the £850 million lawsuit brought against it by the liquidators of the Bank of Credit and Commerce International returns to the High Court today .

Last November, the BoE flatly refused to negotiate over the £70 million-plus costs it is claiming from the liquidators, accountants Deloitte.

Deloitte had sought a two-week window in which to prepare a settlement offer on the issue of costs.

But Nicholas Stadlen QC, for the BoE, spurned the offer.
