A ground breaking ceremony has taken place at Leominster Enterprise Park to mark the start of construction work at the 30-acre site.

The first development on the site will consist of ten new business units for small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs).

The business units are being built by Lancroft Developments of Shrews-bury, on land owned by regional development agency Advantage West Midlands. The buildings will range from 180 to 240 sq metres and will be priced from £115,000 plus V.A.T.

The units, which will be ready for occupation in early October, will be suitable for a wide variety of uses, meeting the needs of SMEs looking to relocate or expand in the area and can be tailored to individual occupier's requirements. Lancroft also has plans to build units to accommodate larger businesses on a bespoke basis.

Construction is also set to start on a state-of-the-art police station on the Enterprise Park in September and negotiations are at advanced stages for a number of other site plots.

Mark Pearce, partner-ships director at Advantage West Midlands said: "The new enterprise park will make a huge difference to the economy of Leominster and I'm delighted to see construction work begin."

Bill Wiggin, MP for Leominster, also said: "Leominster is a fantastic place, and the new buildings will make it easier for businesses to flourish here.

"We have the greatest people, as well as the infrastructure in place, so we are all looking forward with hope and excitement to seeing a vibrant and successful business environment too."

Nicola Cruise, Sales Manager at Lancroft said: "We are very pleased to be working with Advantage West Midlands on this project. We are encouraged by the number if inquiries so far and are close to signing our first two.
