Aston University vice-chancellor Mike Wright is to retire after 11 years at the helm of the institution which boasts the country's best record for graduate employment.

During his time Aston's reputation has grown as one of the leading centres in the country for its vocational and business studies school.

The university also has Britain's best rate of employment once students leave, according to The Sunday Times University Guide. Mr Wright will be succeeded by Professor Julia King CBE.
