Education recruitment specialists Aspire People has recruited six new consultants to join the original sales team of five.

Director Michaela Powell said the recruitment drive showed that some sectors were still flourishing in the downturn.

She said: “It’s obviously a difficult time for the majority of businesses but we are doing well.

“I saw a gap in the market for recruitment consultants. I noticed that experienced, reputable consultants were being made redundant or not being treated respectfully by their company.

“With recruitment agencies around us making cuts, increasing working hours and reducing commission, it was our chance to whip up some new consultants.”

Co-director Louise Hatcher added: “Agencies around us are reducing incentives to cut costs, we have maintained our benefits and as a result retained our staff.

“We have managed to attract specialists from the education sector and talented consultants from other sectors and as a result we have six additional consultants.”
