Midlands construction firm Ashford Construction has bagged a major contract to transform the exterior of Two Colmore Square to create a new landmark office complex in Birmingham's city centre.

As part of the 65-week design and build contract, Ashford Construction will under-take a major redevelopment of the building's existing facade to reflect the architecture of Cannon House next door.

The construction company said it will create a "futuristic glazed entrance" with an atrium projecting into Colmore Square.

The building's owner, Nurton Development, brought in Ashford Construction at an early stage to consult on issues surrounding restricted access at the site.

Specialist glass fitting and transfer equipment has been designed to carry out the final installation.
