One of the Midland's best-known television presenters, Arti Halai from ITV 1's regional news team, is fronting a free event organised by the new chairman of the Birmingham Branch of WMita, the West Midlands IT Association.

Peter Kemp, together with a newly-elected committee, has indicated the branch's intent for a concerted membership recruitment programme to take advantage of WMita's success in launching a national organisation called UKITA, The United Kingdom IT Association.

"We wanted an inspirational speaker to kick off a new season of events and Arti fits the bill perfectly," said Mr Kemp. "Ms Halai will talk at the event on the subject of personal development and empowerment at the event on October 31 at Matthew Boulton College. There will also be case studies on increasing performance and profitability; a chance to register for free needs analysis and excellent networking opportunities.

"We believe that WMita is at an important stage in its growth, especially with the UKITA development. There has never been a more important time for people and companies in the IT sector to join WMita and we are looking to grow the Birmingham branch significantly this year."

Arti Halai has acquired deep understanding of behaviour, communication and the most effective way to get a message across. Arti's company, AH Action, specialises in offering workshops and seminars in communication and presentation skills.

* Members and nonmembers alike can attend the event. To book a place log onto www.wmita.co.uk or for more information call Salim Shaikh on 07748 783579.
