One of Birmingham's leading corporate lawyers is leaving the city to take a high level post with a London-based corporate finance investment house.

David Beech, managing partner of Heatons is quitting the firm at the end of March to join Arev.

Mr Beech, aged 39, has played a major part in Heatons' rapid rise to prominence in Birmingham which has seen it receive major accolades, as well as a place in the Legal 500. The firm was chosen by judges from The Lawyer magazine as a contender for its Niche Firm of the Year award ahead of many London and national law firms.

Mr Beech was catapulted into the Lawyers' Hot 100 and was shortlisted for the Lawyer of the Year award.

Heatons and Arev have enjoyed a very successful relationship over the past year with Mr Beech prominent in numerous projects in which the two organisations have been involved, including the recent takeover of Big Food Group plc by Baugur Group.

Mr Beech, who lives in Staffordshire with his wife and two daughters said he was looking forward to the challenge.

"Now is the right time for me to move on to new challenges, with Heatons stronger than ever before. The firm has pursued a policy of recruiting some of the very best commercial lawyers around and has attracted some major players. They will continue to build on the tremendous run of success the firm has achieved."

Heatons, with eight partners and offices in Birmingham, Manchester and Stokeon-Trent has been involved in some of the biggest retail corporate finance deals handled by Birmingham professionals. The firm has been responsible for the completion of a number of £100 million-plus deals.
