West Midlands-based BLB Architects has become a limited liability partnership - and has changed its name to reflect its new status and the addition of its most recently appointed partner.
Ed Baverstock became a partner within the practice three years ago, joining Nigel Lomas, John Bradshaw and Terry Bolton, and the company chose this opportunity to add his name to the company title, which will now be BBLB Architects.
"We've become an LLP so that we can more easily encourage growth within the company and reward the substantial efforts of our second tier of management via profit-related bonus schemes," said Mr Baverstock.
"The practice has increased in size year on year since 2000 and we are firmly committed to supporting technical, design and administration staff through training and career development at all stages.
"BBLB has established a reputation as one of the foremost, most innovative architects practices in the Midlands and we are aiming to build on that success in the years to come. In order to achieve this we need a skilled, talented team dedicated to our company's future which is why we have to invest in the next generation of management."
BBLB Architects, which has two offices in the West Midlands, employs more than 50 professional and technical staff and is a broadbased practice with substantial experience in residential, e d u c a t i o n a l , industrial/commercial, community and civic projects as well as expertise in urban design and master planning.
They are the designers of the spectacular Orion building, alongside interior designer John Rocha, which is being developed by Crosby Homes and currently under construction in Birmingham city centre.
Other notable projects have included CV Central in Coventry, an apartment development that earned the practice a Coventry Design Award, and Albion Mill, Wolverhampton, a pioneering scheme which involved the restoration and conversion of a listed 19th century mill as well as the provision of 200 new luxury apartments.
BBLB is presently designing more than £350 million of developments throughout the Midlands. The company has offices in Redditch and Bridgnorth.
