Construction services company Mansell has launched a recruitment drive for apprentices after winning a major £10 million housing contract in Birmingham from Waterloo Housing Association.

The partnering contract, to be delivered by Mansell's Stourbridge-based Western Region, involves the construction of 125 homes in Waterside, Brandwood, South Birmingham.

To help Mansell and its subcontractors on the project, the company is looking for an extra 12 apprentices, with plumbers, scaffolders, electricians and ground workers all needed.

As part of the drive Mansell was involved in a recruitment event at the Brandwood Centre which attracted more than 150 youngsters.

Senior contracts manager Phil Plant said: "These are high quality apprenticeships which will lead to valuable and much needed skills. It was good to see so many people interested in joining the construction industry."
