The US Ambassador to the UK will make his first visit to Birmingham this month.

Louis B Susman, who was confirmed to the role by the US Senate, will come to the city for the first time on February 26.

Ambassador Susman, who has an extensive professional services background, will speak on the current political and economic issues that affect the US/UK transatlantic relationship.

Cassie Muir, executive director of the British American Business Council in the Midlands, said his history as a lawyer and also a former executive within the banking industry in Chicago would make his speech particularly pertinent.

She said: “We believe that Ambassador Susman’s remarks will be of interest to the many professionals in Birmingham’s business community who are involved in US/UK trade and especially those who will participate in the Business and Professional Services Market Visit to Chicago in March this year.

“The US is the West Midlands’ and Birmingham’s number one foreign direct investor.

“The city of Chicago and Birmingham are twinned as sister cities’ and this event will provide a great opportunity to celebrate this.”

The event will provide great networking opportunities for all attendees, with a three course lunch.
