Birmingham Airport held its annual awards ceremony to celebrate the learning and achievement for all employees who had achieved qualifications in the past year.

A total of 119 Airport Company employees achieved a wide range of qualifications last year and all achievers were invited to the awards ceremony. 

Joe Kelly, acting managing director, said: “It is fantastic news that so many of our staff are investing in themselves and taking advantage of the training that the company can provide. 

"Within the past 12 months 19% of our staff have earned a national recognised qualification, which is not easy when you take in to account the time and effort that these staff have to put in, along with their everyday jobs and family life. I am so pleased for them all and they deserve this recognition.”

David Cragg OBE, regional director of the West Midlands Learning and Skills Council presented the Awards to all the achievers.

Airport staff were joined by employees from other companies based on the Airport site including OCS, Travelex, Monarch Airlines ,Servisair and Deirichebourg Multi Services (formerly ICS). 

Awards were given in the following categories: NVQ Customer Services, Adult Literacy, Adult Numeracy, British Sign Language, British Safety Council, Health & Safety Executive First Aid course, Defibrillator Training, Supervisory Management Course, Personal Development Programme, CLAIT, ECDL, Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, Chartered Institute of Public Relations, Chartered IT Professional Status and Key Skills.
