Temporary power equipment supplier Aggreko yesterday said its performance in the first-half had been very strong as it sees the benefits of contracts signed in 2005.

The business said it had made significant progress compared with the first half of 2005 and that Aggreko International had continued the momentum seen in the second half of 2005.

Aggreko runs its UK national rental centre at Cannock where customer calls come in and a decision is taken on which depot is best placed to handle them.

The Glasgow-based group said its International Power Projects arm, which focus mainly on developing countries, had seen strong growth in the Middle East, Singapore and Australia while investment in new equipment in North America had produced good growth.

Shares in Aggreko have outperformed the UK support services sector by 20 per cent over the last 12 months.
