Niche understanding of the home lifestyle market has landed a Birmingham agency a string of contracts in the face of competition from London big-hitters.
Edgbaston-based Willoughby Public Relations said the success had played a part in boosting fees last year to £1.3 million from just under about £1 million in the previous period - with two thirds of the income coming from consumer accounts.
Managing director and founder Julia Willoughby said: "Home lifestyle has been our core business since we set up in the early nineties.
"That said, it is still our fastest growing sector and we outperform our targets year after year.
"We have developed a niche understanding of the market and this has given us the edge in pitches.
"We are increasingly beating bigger London agencies to win top name brands and this is because we know the sector and the specific trade and consumer press so well."
Willoughby PR is also operating in retail, a newer area for the business officially launched on the back of the company's experience with the opening of Bullring in 2003. Since then, the company has worked on a number of high profile launch projects with high street names including Big W, AMC, Alpha Airport Shopping and Calthorpe Estates.
Recent wins include Watford based-Mothercare and Liverpool based discount department store chain, TJ Hughes.
The period of growth has seen the company expand its board with the promotion of two associate directors to director level.
Jo McCarthy, head of home lifestyle, and Jane Ainsworth, head of retail, take up the posts.
They are charged with developing accounts in their respective fields as the business seeks to expand its consumer and business-to-business work over the coming months.
Ms Willoughby said their work in the home lifestyle and retail sectors was largely responsible for the significant increase in overall fees.
Among other wins over the last financial year were Dolphin Bathrooms, Moben and Lec Refrigeration.
Ms Willoughby said: "Last year was our best year for consumer growth and much of this can be attributed to Jane and Jo.
"They achieved some fantastic results for our existing clients as well as helping to bring many new names through the door.
"We are a growing business and with the right people at the top, I am confident that we can - and will - continue to expand."
