Demand for independent financial advice reached a new high during the first half of the year as people sought help with retirement planning, figures showed yesterday. IFA Promotion, which supports the work of independent financial advisers, said it received 312,719 requests for details of local IFAs during the first six months of the year, the highest level to date and nine per cent up on 2005's figure.
