A radio executive who helped to launch Heart fm in the West Midlands is returning to his roots at rival BRMB.

Nigel Ackroyd has joined 96.4 BRMB as marketing controller, in succession to Howard Bradley who now has a regional role since the merger of BRMB owner Capital with GWR.

Mr Ackroyd has spent all of his working life in and around Birmingham working for major blue-chip companies in key marketing roles, and is very excited about returning to his roots at BRMB.

Having worked for GKN and Allied Domecq, Mr Ackroyd's boyhood dream came true when he started working for BRMB in 1990, as it was the station he had grown up listening to.

After four years with BRMB, he was asked to launch Heart fm for Chrysalis Radio, and latterly to look after Galaxy radio.

Mr Ackroyd whole-heartedly believes in the unique role that local commercial radio can play within a community, and is looking forward to building on the successes of Walkathon and Party in the Park.
