A Walsall-based social enterprise has been awarded a £10,000 grant from a community retailer’s charity fund to boost its narrowboats scheme to help local people.

Truman Enterprise Narrowboat Trust, which provides narrowboats for young, disabled and elderly people to be actively involved in educational and recreational pursuits on canals and waterways, was given the grant from The Midcounties Co-operative’s Community Fund.

The organisation, which launched its first narrowboat in 1968, encourages social inclusion by providing a supportive atmosphere.
