More than 1,500 new homes could be built on four separate sites across the region, it has been revealed.

Set to be discussed at next week's Investment Board, the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) is looking to buy two plots in Wolverhampton , one in Sandwell and one in Dudley .

Papers from the meeting say that the sites will help to deliver around 1,575 homes, while a further 1,000 could be delivered on adjacent land as part of a 'proposed development partnership'.

The funding comes from the WMCA's £350 million housing deal with government, which has set the target of delivering 215,000 new homes in the region by 2031.

The fund includes a £100 million 'land fund', "to acquire challenging brownfield sites in the region, and to invest in remediation and infrastructure to bring this land forward for release to the market for the delivery of over 8,000 new, high quality homes."

The four sites proposed for purchase by the WMCA are Friar Park in Sandwell, Bean Road in Coseley, Dudley and Dixon Street and Grimstone Road in Wolverhampton.

The WMCA notes that the sites have been chosen in close consultation with the relevant local councils.

No timetable has been published yet for the purchase of the sites, nor have any costs been revealed.

These matters will be discussed during Monday's (February 18) Investment Board, but are part of the private session rather than the public one.

Papers from the meeting also reveal that further sites are being considered in Walsall and Willenhall, and are set to be brought forward for consideration at the March 2019 Investment Board.
