One of Birmingham's best known bartenders has left his current role to concentrate on new projects.
Robert Wood has been working at 40 St Paul's Gin Bar but has ended his involvement in the venue in order to focus on a new venture that he is currently keeping under wraps.
Alongside his work at 40 St Paul's, where his menu was shortlisted for Imbibe's Gin Menu of the Year 2016, he has been working with a number of brands and venues, including Pop Up Taco Shop, Zindiya Indian Restaurant and The Wilderness.
Mr Wood, who previously worked at The Edgbaston boutique hotel, said: “I loved every minute of working with the team at 40 St Pauls, they are still part of my life and I’ll always pop my head around the door to say hello.
"There’s already not enough hours in the day for me with all that is going on in Birmingham’s food and drink scene, so I need to prioritise my time a little better and carry on striving to help make the drinks scene in Birmingham the best in the country.
"As a city we are growing, new ideas are developing constantly and I am looking to ensure Birmingham keeps up that momentum."
Unfortunately, he's not yet ready to reveal any details about his newest venture.
He said: "I can’t give out details quite yet but I promise it’s going to be something that Birmingham hasn’t experienced before.
"Watch this space as they say.”
