A new restaurant and bakery has opened in Moseley

Starfish Coffee will sell freshly baked bread, croissants, sandwiches, breakfast and brunch dishes in the day and has a restaurant menu “bringing a fusion of flavours from all over the world”.

The new eatery is housed over two units in Woodbridge Road - and will have separate entrances for its bakery cafe and restaurant.

Judging by the cool and colourful beach hut style interior, this new place should become a popular hangout to relax.

Lesley Main and her partner Guy Ward, who will run the kitchen and woodfired oven, will open the cafe on Monday, July 24. The restaurant will open in August.

The menu will serve up Cuban sandwiches with braised beef, pulled pork, smoked meats and rice bowls as well as an extensive brunch and breakfast menu in its cafe.

Choose from bacon sarnies, eggs Benedict, a full English fry up and of course fresh coffee to enjoy in the 25 seater cafe.

Ms Main, who has lived in Moseley for 17 years, said: “I previously had a corporate job and it was always a dream of mine to open a restaurant. When my partner Guy moved here from Worcester, we started looking for possible sites. We came across the Woodbridge site in March and knew it was perfect.”

She added: “We are both massive foodies and have travelled a lot so we didn’t want to be restricted to one type of cuisine. For our restaurant menu we have lots of Central American, South African and Asian influences.

“We just wanted a menu of good food cooked well - using seasonal ingredients and local suppliers.

“We’re looking forward to hopefully bringing something a little different to Moseley, The food and drink scene is fantastic but there isn’t a place to get a full English fry up here - apart from Lewis’s which is very small.”

She added: “Moseley has a tradition of championing the local independents so we hope Starfish is welcomed by the community - whether people for a cup of coffee, brunch or bite to eat in the evening.”

The 25 cover restaurant will be BYOB.

Nearby restaurants in Woodbridge Road include Sabai Sabai and Zindiya.

Starfish Cafe will be open 8am - 7pm Mondays to Saturday and 10.30am - 5.30pm on Sundays.
