NatWest is today hosting a launch event for its brand new Grand Central branch in Birmingham, replacing the branch previously located at Birmingham New Street.

To celebrate this transformation, the CEO for Personal & Business Banking, Les Matheson, will officially open the branch.

Customers old and new are invited to attend between 11am and 3pm and staff will be on hand to provide tours and answer any questions on the branch design and the new facilities available.

A short ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 1pm.

The branch has a completely new look and feel over two floors, with the ‘traditional’ bank counter replaced by an open plan banking hall featuring pictures of famous local landmarks. It contains upgraded cash machines and cash deposit machines as well as free Wi-Fi and iPads so customers can register and access Online Banking services.

The second floor of the branch is home to NatWest’s first ever ‘private lounge’ which offers Private Banking customers a place to relax or work in the heart of the city.

Speaking ahead of the launch, the CEO for Personal & Business Banking, Les Matheson, said: “I am delighted to be able to attend the launch of this new branch. Even though there are more ways to bank with us than ever before, our branches remain a cornerstone of the service we provide.

“This year we are investing more than £100m to upgrade our branch network so that it can better meet the needs of our customers, and support them with big life decisions such as taking out a mortgage or starting up their own business.

“I believe that our first ever private business lounge will bring great benefits both to customers in the local area and those who will visit Birmingham for business”.
