Scores of small businesses are hoping to walk away with a £20K prize package being offered by Intuit QuickBooks – but your company could still be in with a chance to win as the final days of the competition draw to a close.
The Aston Villa sponsors – and world’s number one online accounting software provider – are looking for the West Midlands’ most entrepreneurial and original small businesses to win the Small Business Big Success competition being run in with the Birmingham Post and Mail.
Local business heroes, from butchers to builders and hairdressers to IT consultants, who work hard day in, day out to achieve success in the second year of the popular contest are all in with a chance to walk away with the prize – £10,000 in cash, advertising and Aston Villa prizes.
Entries must be received before 11.59pm on Monday, February 29.
The winner will be announced at an awards evening held on March 22 at Villa Park.
The evening will include a full sit-down dinner as well as a special Q&A panel with distinguished leaders from Aston Villa Football Club.
Mike Williams, Intuit Director of Finance, Europe, said: “We’ve been hugely impressed with the standard of entries we’ve received so far and the wide variety of businesses that we’ve heard from.
“From hairdressers to painters & decorators, artists to travel agents, we’ve been truly inspired by the stories of success that have already flooded in.
“It’s clear that the West Midlands is a region brimming full of hardworking and passionate small business owners achieving success every single day. There’s still time to enter if you haven’t yet had the chance – whatever you’re most proud of, we want to hear from you!”
Last year’s winner was Boo Boo Coffee on Harborne High Street which impressed judges with its traditional family ethos and good service.
Co-owner Keon Heidarinia said: “Winning the competition has had a major impact on our business and the prize package has really helped us push things forward. We’ve been able to start delivering an evening trade, which has helped us to grow the business.
“The prize also helped us to fund training for all our junior staff members, making them experts on coffee ingredients, methods, treatments
and techniques – skills they can take with them anywhere in the world.
“We weren’t the highest profile or most profitable business in the competition but the judges clearly liked our story.
“So I’d advise any small business owner thinking of entering to get their entry in now for the chance to make their business bigger and better this year!”
