Leading UK wealth management firm Brewin Dolphin is leading the fight against blood cancer with a headline sponsorship for premier cycling event London 2 Paris: Inspiring The Revolution.

The 500km cycle ride from Greenwich to the French capital from May 19 to 23 will involve up to 300 cyclists, led by former England and Wolverhampton Wanderers footballer and blood cancer survivor Geoff Thomas.

All funds raised going to the Birmingham-based Cure Leukaemia charity.

Cure Leukaemia’s relationship with pharmaceutical companies means the funds raised will be worth ten times more in potentially life-saving treatments for blood cancer patients.

Joining Brewin Dolphin’s 40 strong Team Revolution on the ride is the company’s Co-Head of Private Clients, Stephen Jones, who previously completed all 21 stages of the Tour de France, one day ahead of the professionals in July last year to also raise funds for Cure Leukaemia.

Mr Jones said: “Last year I met Cure Leukaemia’s co-founder Professor Charlie Craddock CBE and patients who are directly benefiting from funds raised by the charity.

“The work Cure Leukaemia supports at the Centre for Clinical Haematology (CCH) at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham has a global impact on the fight against blood cancer.

“Brewin Dolphin are proud members of the Birmingham community and are honoured to support Cure Leukaemia because we know the funds will not only directly benefit patients, but also continue working towards finding a cure for all forms of blood cancer.

“We have riders from our offices throughout the country taking part and I’m sure it will be a fantastic experience for a very serious and important cause.”

Cure Leukaemia Chief Executive James McLaughlin said: “To have such a well respected and influential company like Brewin Dolphin fronting our London 2 Paris ride will not only provide vital treatments for patients battling this dreadful disease, but also raise the profile of the charity throughout the country.

“As highlighted in the media recently, Professor Craddock and his clinical team are administering world first clinical trials at the CCH in Birmingham and across the Midlands that are only possible with Cure Leukaemia’s funding.

“Brewin Dolphin’s support will help save lives and continue progress towards a cure for all blood cancers.”
