The man who helped to spearhead the launch of the NEC Group's Convention Centre Dublin complex has taken on a newly created senior management role within the organisation.

Allan Boyle will become director of event services, group convention centres (GCC), from September 1.

The new position has been created to support the ambitious growth plans of GCC which includes extending its venue management contracts internationally and launching the new Vox conference centre at the Resorts World complex in Solihull in 2015.

Mr Boyle has been a key member of Convention Centre Dublin since 2009 when he took on the role of director of events and hospitality, ahead of the venue's launch, and later became event operations director in Dublin.

As part of his new role, Mr Boyle will split his time between Dublin and the ICC in Birmingham.

He said: "I am passionate about customer service and relish the opportunity to use the experience I've gained at the Convention Centre Dublin to support all of our venue teams to be the best in class.

"In our ever-changing and highly-competitive market place, we cannot afford to stand still, and I am committed to delivering excellence for GCC and our clients."
