Students from Grace Academy Solihull have been busy putting their business skills to the test, competing against 4,000 other young people in the Mosaic Enterprise Challenge.

The national business competition comprises an online business simulation game and regional finals.

During the event the young people were challenged to take a product to market, gain market share and maximise their profits over a virtual three years of trading, with specialist advice from real business mentors.

Regional finalists will be announced in mid-February, and Becky Mitchell, West Midlands regional manager, Mosaic UK, said: “Matching the schools to over 400 inspirational business mentors who can advise students during the challenge is a great idea.

The finals take place in April and the winning students will receive £2,500 for their school, and another £500 which they can invest in their business idea, as well as an afternoon out in London.

Jeremy Douglas Jones, business facilitator, Grace Academy, said: “We are delighted that our students have been able to work with real business experts to take part in this challenge. We offer our students opportunities to develop their own skills while learning about the workplace from their first year with us and we have been very encouraged by the outcomes.”
