The latest road closures brought on by the £500 million Paradise regeneration scheme have been revealed by developers - meaning another commuter headache for Brummies.

From now until August 7, Summer Row on the edge of the Jewellery Quarter is closed to all vehicles as construction workers continue to sculpt the road and pavement layout (see map above).

In addition, parking bays in connecting Lionel Street have been suspended and traffic is able to drive along it in both directions.

It comes as city centre commuters face nightmare journeys as a result of major work to the Aston Expressway and the M6 over the summer.

A turning circle is in operation at the junction of Lionel Street and Summer Row while traffic lights have been installed at the other end of Lionel Street where it joins Newhall Street.

All businesses in Summer Row - many of which are bars - are open as normal.

These latest changes follow the reopening of the A457 Parade last month to outbound traffic after 18 months.

Paradise is a regeneration scheme which will eventually see eight new office buildings and a hotel constructed but has signalled the end for the old Central Library and Adrian Boult Hall concert venue.

The traffic flow around Paradise Circus traffic island is also being rerouted as part of the project.
