A busy street in the heart of Birmingham's business district will close next month.

Colmore Row will be shut overnight from 8pm to 6am on both Monday August 7 and Tuesday August 8 to allow for repair works and tree pruning.

The road will be closed from the junction of Colmore Circus Queensway to the junction of Church Street.

Traffic approaching via Snow Hill Queensway will be diverted via the A4400 to Livery Street and then onto Barwick Street to access to Colmore Row.

Colmore Row will also be closed from the junction of Newhall Street to Waterloo Street at Victoria Square.

Restrictions will also be in place around the junction of Bennetts Hill and Waterloo Street and diversions will be in place.

These latest roadworks will add to those currently in Newhall Street in order for gas mains under the road to be replaced.

A section of Newhall Street, from Cornwall Street to Lionel Street in the direction of the Jewellery Quarter, is shut and forcing cars onto surrounding roads including the old Paradise Circus island.

This section of the carriageway has been partially closed for more than two years as a new road system is installed as part of the £500 million Paradise regeneration project.

The A38(M) Aston Expressway and Spaghetti Junction are also undergoing a £4.7 million programme of repair work for the summer including weekend closures.
