The new Subaru Levorg will have one engine and one trim level when it goes on sale in the UK in September from £27,495. The engine is a 1.6-litre petrol engine producing 168bhp, mated to a Lineartronic CVT auto transmission. The all-wheel drive estate car will be offered in only the GT version.

The engine will have a 0-62mph time of 8.9sec according to Subaru, along with a combined economy figure of 39.7mpg, causing 164g/km of CO2 emissions. Performance will be similar to the old 2.5-litre boxer engine, which was in the Legacy Tourer which ceased production in 2008.

The GT trim brings with it a host of standard equipment and systems, including all-wheel drive, active torque vectoring, blue leather trim, auto lights and wipers, 18in alloys, keyless entry and start, dual-zone air-con, and a 7.0in touchscreen sat-nav.

There is also a reversing camera as well as SRVD, which is a Subaru system that helps spot cars driving past when you’re reversing out of a bay where you can’t see clearly either side. This comes with a system that warns about what’s in the blind spots and also lane-change assist.

Prices will start at £27,495.
