Jaguar has revealed the first glimpse of its new 200mph super car, the Jaguar F-Type SVR.

The fastest version of the F-Type is being built at the company's Castle Bromwich factory in the Midlands and will go on sale to UK buyers in summer 2016.

Jaguar plans to reveal the performance version of its popular coupe at the Geneva Motor Show in March, but has released a teaser video showing the new car in action.

John Edwards, Managing Director, Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations, says: “The new F-TYPE SVR is the first series production Jaguar to be developed by Special Vehicle Operations and benefits from everything we know about precision engineering, performance and design.

“The result is a 200mph, all-weather supercar that you can drive every day – we even made a Convertible version so that enthusiasts can revel in the sound from the new titanium exhaust system.”

The Jaguar F-Type has been described as the spiritual successor to the iconic Jaguar E-Type, which was once described by Ferrari founder Enzo Ferrari as 'the most beautiful car in the world'.

The new F-Type SVR will be the fastest and most extreme model in the range, which comprises the standard coupe, a convertible version and the F-Type R, a more powerful option than the standard car.
