We’re all familiar with the notion of manufacturers building special-edition models to make their cars more interesting. But in the rarified atmospehere surrounding all things Aston Martin, that job has just been taken on by a dealer.

It could of course be argued that you don’t need to make an Aston more interesting. But that’s what Aston Martin Cambridge set out to do when it came up with the V8 Vantage S Blade Edition.

When you buy one of these, you don’t just get a car. You get a VIP handover day at Sywell Aerodrome, hosted by The Blades themselves.

No, not Sheffield United. These Blades are ‘the world’s only aerobatic airline.’

And the experience they give you will come to mind every time you climb about your Vantage. As well as putting on a display for the five new Aston owners, the team will take you on board for an aerobatic flight of your own. You’ll get a hovering lesson in a chopper, too, as well as a performance demo with a pro instructor aboard your new car.

Said car is a standard V8 Vantage S underneath. But its cabin and bodywork have been adorned with various black and orange highlights and there’s a Blades badge stitched into the seats.

Your car also comes with a matching cover made from parachute silk (bit of a mixed message there), and has its own aircraft-style ID code.

As well as your VIP handover experience, you’ll also be given a leather-bound album of pictures from your car’s build.

The premium is £9250 over the price of an everyday Vantage S, which means £119,950. All five of the cars are ready to be ordered now, exclusively through Aston Martin Cambridge.
