Having been knocked out by KPMG in the last three Warwickshire Taverners Trophy tournaments Phoenix Group were looking for revenge in this year’s semi-finals.

Phoenix lost the toss and were put into bat.

Darren Kok was dismissed for the first time in the tournament, nicking a sweep to the keeper for 13 but posting a healthy average of 135.

Despite that blow Phoenix set KPMG a competitive score of 148 for the loss of 4 wickets.

KMPG’s chase got off to a terrible start with two wickets falling in the first over and, although they rallied briefly, a suicidal run out and some tight bowling saw Phoenix home by 37 runs.

They will meet Savills in the final after they won the battle of the Birmingham surveyors against GVA.

The latter batted first and set a total of 117 for nine

That was never likely to be enough against free-scoring Savills, who nocked off the runs in 11.2 overs for the loss of one wicket.

Semi-finals: Phoenix Group 148 for 4 (Thomas 35*) beat KMPG 111 all out (Kok 2-12) by 37 runs; Savills 118 for 1 (Sammons 34*, R Gough 3-4) beat GVA 117 for 9 by nine wickets.
