Dean Ryan expects to have Paul Warwick available for Worcester's return to Premiership action against Leicester in early February.

The fly half needed extended on-field treatment to a neck injury during last week's Amlin Challenge Cup defeat at Sale giving rise to fears he had suffered serious damage.

However, the former Munsterman is on the road to recovery and while Ryan says he will be cautious, similarly the injury is not too debilitating.

"I spoke to Paul Warwick straight after the game and he was in good spirits and he reckoned he was 30 seconds from jumping up and running back out - although the doctors thought otherwise," Ryan said.

"He's pretty sore this week but he says he's used to that being 32-years-old and we have got to make sure we manage it, with a blow to the neck there could be some swelling so we have got to sit and wait.

"I would imagine he will be back for the Premiership, by all accounts we are talking one or two weeks. It's an injury you can't predict so I can't guarantee that."

Jon Andress and Josh Matavesi have also returned to training after ankle and hand injuries.
