Dear Editor, I have never held Keith Vaz, a Member of Parliament for a part of Leicester, in the highest esteem and I am sure my assessment of him is confirmed when I heard him praising Jacqui Smith on the BBC TV news today on the revelation that she is resigning her post as Home Secretary (better late than never).

Vaz said she will ‘go down in history’ as the first woman Home Secretary and instead of leaving it at that point his smooth charm, eloquence and sycophancy took over, as is his wont; he went on to say that she was the most ‘effective’ Home Secretary, having to deal with the most difficult of circumstances.

He failed to realise that these ‘circumstances’ were the result of 12 years of Labour bad government. She has certainly been able to control the high flow of immigration going and the high crime figures.

These ‘difficult circumstances’ will, hopefully, have to be dealt with effectively by another government soon.

As Home Affairs Committee chairman Keith Vaz has also presided over the biggest influx of immigration ever endured by our country in its history and the high crime rate. They deserve each other! Jacqui and Keith!

Such disingenuous statements, as this of Keith Vaz, do nothing to improve the respect and integrity of his dysfunctional party.

Is it possible that Vaz can be so out of touch with the indigenous population that he really ‘believes’ that Jacqui Smith has been ‘effective’? or is there something we do not know about her that is classified? Or does Keith say such things to all the girls?

Vaz does like the sound of his own voice; perhaps he is just allowing his tongue to run away with him? Let’s hope so.
