Mainstay Group racked up a massive score against last year’s semi-finalists Savills to win by 66 runs in the Warwickshire Taverners Trophy this week.

Contributions of 35 not out from Brace, Lucas and Henry helped build a commanding total. There was more style than substance from Edd Corfield of Mainstay who swung so hard he finished lying on the turf motionless.

Matthew Brace took 2 for 6 in his two overs for Mainstay with Savills limited to 136 for 7 in their 16 overs.

DAC Beachcroft are still to even make the field in the tournament this year with captain Jake Stacy making an empty threat to resign in protest at the weather.

With a lunchtime burst of rain leaving the ground sodden, his misery was compounded when the sun came out at about 4pm, providing a glorious summer’s evening with the only cricket being on the television.

An innocent diary mix up saw DTZ take the points in their fixture with Wragge and Co.
