Two of the Premier League’s greatest ever goal scorers have been confirmed for the 2017 Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship.

Robbie Fowler and Andrew Cole are making their debuts at the Championship – joining a host of amateur and professional golfers and celebrities from around the world.

The event is celebrating its 84th anniversary at Nailcote Hall in Warwickshire and is one of the most sought after UK Championships to compete in.

Liverpool legend and former England international Fowler scored 163 times in the Premier League – the sixth highest in history.

He also played a key role in Liverpool’s 2001 treble winning season where the club won the FA Cup, League Cup and UEFA Cup.

Fowler said: “I’m really looking forward to coming to Nailcote Hall and competing in the Championship.”

Andrew Cole

Cole is also considered one of the Premier League’s greatest strikers.

Best known for his spell at Manchester United, Andrew is the third highest scorer in the Premier League era with a total of 187 goals.

His time at Manchester also coincided with the team’s iconic 1999 treble winning season. He also played for Blues.

The Par 3 Championship is being hosted by British golfing icon Tony Jacklin CBE who told how he is looking forward seeing the football stars turn their hand to his sport.

“It’s great to have two former Premier League stars on board for this year’s Championship,” he said.

“Both Robbie and Andrew are sporting heroes to their respective teams and I’m looking forward to seeing them both in action in August.”
