The successes of the city’s retailers will be celebrated with the launch of the Retail Birmingham Awards next week.

Retail Birmingham, the business improvement district that represents more than 1,000 city centre businesses, officially launches the venture on February 24.

The awards, sponsored by the National Skills Academy for Retail at Solihull College and in partnership with Trinity Mirror, are designed to recognise and reward retailers and individuals working in Birmingham city centre for excellence in customer service, team work, emerging talent and leading in industry standards.

Every retailer in the BID area, including bars, restaurants, hotels and banks, will get the chance to nominate themselves, a colleague or a team to win a coveted award.

Each person that nominates will be automatically entered into a prize draw to win a £250 shopping voucher to spend in the city centre.

Following the closing date, winners will be carefully selected by a judges including Post editor Stacey Barnfield, Retail Birmingham chair Jonathan Cheetham, pictured, and senior director of employment and skills, Shaun Hindle.

Mr Cheetham said: “With customer service being such a crucial asset offer the city’s offer, Retail Birmingham has chosen to recognise, reward and celebrate retailer and individual service excellence within the city with the Retail Birmingham Awards 2014.
