The Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship 2016 returns to Nailcote Hall this year with top celebrities and first class golfers.

One of the biggest golfing events in England, it will take place on July 26-29 July.

The prize fund has been increased by 20 per cent to a record €150,000, with the winner taking home a cheque for €50,000.

The Professional Championship takes place over two days, compared to four days which is standard in most professional golf tournaments.

The 2016 edition of the Championship will be hosted for the ninth successive year by two-time Major winner and the most successful Ryder Cup captain of all-time, Tony Jacklin.

He said: “I’ve had a long association with the Championship and it’s been a pleasure to see it grow in size and stature. “When I first started hosting the event, the first prize was was £5,000 and now it’s €50,000 which just shows you the progress that has been made in such a short space of time.”

Two more major names have been confirmed to play at this year’s Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship; former F1 world champion Nigel Mansell and 2005 US Open winner Michael Campbell.

The Championship will also welcome back Ryder Cup player and 2015 British Par 3 Championship winner Barry Lane to defend his title this year.

The event also plays host to two Celeb-Am days graced by some of the nation’s best loved TV and sports personalities. Previous attendees include Manchester United legends Sir Alex Ferguson, Peter Schmeichel and Dwight Yorke, former F1 world champion Damon Hill, Strictly Come Dancing judge Len Goodman and boyband stars Keith Duffy and Brian McFadden.
