I’m being called the “Trollinator” by my loyal band of followers on Twitter – a name I’m wearing as a badge of honour.

And I’m hoping will be made into a movie starring me!

I was recently asked to be an ambassador for MIND, a wonderful mental health charity, and I take my role very seriously.

I have always been open about my own experiences of clinical depression and will do whatever I can to help those who suffer like me.

Something I am passionate about is doing whatever I can to stamp out bullying – a major contribution to anxiety and depression especially in young people, but not exclusively.

That’s why I choose to re-tweet vile abuses from trolls on Twitter, against the advice of many I hasten to add.

To the uninitiated let me explain. If I re-tweet a message made to me it’s then seen by all my followers.

I have nearly 300,000 followers and the majority of those people are loyally supportive, well-meaning and kind.

I keep them up to date with what’s going on (well, not when I’m going for a wee, like some) and share photos of people and places in my life.

When some cyberbully who has never met me chooses to post a vile, foul-mouthed message to me which is seen by their pathetic few followers I choose to share it with a quarter of a million people who I know are protective of me and they take action against these bullies!

Lincoln and I actually found and posted photos of two trolls who had not realised their photos could be found and shared. Their accounts were quickly shut down. A result in my opinion.

I can deal with these abuses at the moment as I’m feeling quite strong. However, some people cannot and the social networking sites are not doing enough, if anything, to stop it.

I can’t do much but I will do my best to confront bullies.

If you want to follow me go to @RealDeniseWelch on Twitter.

If you want to post abuse feel free... but I will have to tell my friends about it!

We can't let evil triumph

The moment a bomb exploded during the Boston Marathon
The moment a bomb exploded during the Boston Marathon

I keep thinking of the terrible atrocities carried out at the Boston Marathon.

My heart goes out to the injured and the families and friends of those who have lost their lives.

When something like this happens I always think of the families for whom this started as a normal day, maybe off to support a family member taking part in the race and perhaps raising lots of money for those less fortunate than themselves.

Never in a million years did they think that this joyful occasion would result in death and destruction on such a scale.

With our own London Marathon taking place on Sunday, it’s only natural that we will be thinking the same thing – could it happen again?

I know that I will be worrying about friends who are taking part, but taking part they will be because if they don’t the evil perpetrators of the Boston attack will have already won and I believe as a nation we will never let that happen.

In  light of the truly courageous men and women of the emergency series who are dealing selflessly with the aftermath of the Boston tragedy, I feel I must mention the behaviour of certain football hooligans towards our own brave police force in Newcastle last Sunday.

You are not football supporters. You are thugs. You should never be allowed in ANY football ground again.

I hope you go to jail – oh, I feel sorry for your families!

Sad to say goodbye to the stage - but wedding plans will keep me busy!

Well,  my play, Smack Family Robinson ends on Saturday and as we’ve broken box office records we will be going out on a high ...so now the countdown to my wedding.

Since Lincoln proposed last summer the time has flown by as I’ve been so busy – and I can’t believe it’s only three months away?

To be honest, Linc has been working so well with Julie, our wedding planner, I have been happy to take a back seat. I think, however, that he’ll be happy to pass some of the preparations to me. I’m sure he thinks he’s being secretly filmed for an episode of Don’t Tell The Bride!
