You’d always find singer Jona Lewie in the kitchen at parties, according to his 1980 hit.

And you wouldn’t blame him if it was this kitchen, because in one corner is a contemporary wine storage room set behind glazed double doors which show off the extensive wine storage facilities inside.

The creation of this unusual store has been one part of a seven-year programme of renovation and replanning of Fairmile House in Whitehall Road, Kidderminster.

It was originally built by Thomas Vale around 1930 and stands in the middle of a plot that extends to almost three quarters of an acre, which means there is plenty of privacy and views out to the gardens and grounds all round.

The makeover has seen Villeroy & Boch suites and sanitary wear installed in the bathrooms, Sharp furniture fitted in the bedrooms and a custom-built breakfast kitchen. There is also a high spec wi-fi music system and underfloor heating.

Accommodation is arranged over three floors.

On the ground floor, the impressive entrance hall has a tiled floor. It opens into a central reception hall with strip-boarded wooden floor, open fireplace and guest cloakroom plus access to the cellar.

There are four reception rooms, including a drawing room that is an impressive 22ft x 18ft. A spacious, separate sitting room is an inviting family space.

But the hub of the home is undeniably the open plan breakfast kitchen, dining room and day room, with its three distinct areas. Bi-fold doors lead from the day room out to the garden terrace area, which is laid with Indian stone.

In the breakfast kitchen there are custom-built high gloss cabinets and full height wall units concealing a walk-in pantry. Appliances include a Bosch electric double oven, microwave grill, coffee maker, integrated dishwasher and American fridge freezer. A ‘cream & cappuccino’ colour theme is completed by coloured granite work surfaces.

Also off the kitchen is a laundry area and study/home office with sufficient space for at least two work stations.

The first floor offers four bedrooms, three with en suite facilities plus family bathroom. All of them have modern fittings and decor.

The master suite has its own separate dressing room with door out to balcony plus an en suite bathroom with underfloor heating, vanity unit, twin hand basins, shower cubicle and toilet. A separate fitted walk-in wardrobe completes the suite.

On the second floor there are two more double bedrooms and a bathroom.

There is space for numerous cars to park at the front of the house and room for a four-car garage to be built (subject to planning permission).
