It’s been lovingly built by a couple who had planned to live there with their family, but just as the finishing touches are now being made at Long Meadow in Lapworth it’s going on the market.

Ann Jackson and her property developer husband Martin bought the plot six years ago and they immediately set about transforming it.

They first built a detached triple car garage with an external staircase, which leads to an impressive apartment, and then went on to demolish the old bungalow, replacing it with an exceptional five-bedroom home set over three floors.

But, with a home in Salcombe, Devon – one of a handful of high-spec homes that Martin developed in the South West – and two of their four children having left home, the couple have decided to sell their bespoke home before they have even moved into it.

“We want a base here in the Midlands but we are spending more time in the South West, so we decided that it would be best to sell Long Meadow and downsize,” said Ann.

Everything about Long Meadow has been built with luxury in mind and to the standards that Ann demanded.

It means the specification is, unsurprisingly, at the top end. The 4,915.7 sq ft house is built of handmade York brick and features an oak, timber-framed porch. You’ll find underfloor heating, a mechanical ventilation and heat recovery system, plus a central vacuuming system throughout.

And for anyone who likes to get to grips with the finer detail, there is oak internal joinery with ‘Turnstile’ ironmongery, hardwood internal doors, handmade oak staircases, a Lutron HomeWorks lighting system, and state-of-the-art Cat 6 cabling with audio-visual to all rooms.

Reached via hardwood electrically-controlled gates, the secluded house is positioned to make the most of its impressive gardens and views.

You are greeted by a large reception hall, with full-height oak-framed windows, which leads to three reception rooms: a spacious triple aspect drawing room with French windows that open onto the rear and front garden; a formal dining room; and an impressive family room that leads into the bespoke breakfast kitchen with hand-painted units and Corian work surfaces.

The property doesn’t skimp on appliances; in the kitchen and utility there is a range of integrated Miele products, including two ovens, two warming drawers, mains feed coffee machine and two dishwashers. There is also a Liebherr freezer with ice maker, Liebherr wine cooler and Insinkerator boiling water tap.

Go down to the basement and you’ll find a study area and a bedroom suite with a fitted dressing room, en-suite bathroom and French doors that lead to a sunken garden. There is also a recreation room that could be used as a cinema room or gym.

The first floor accommodates four bedroom suites, all of which have cathedral ceilings, built-in wardrobes and individually designed bathrooms, but it is the master bedroom with balcony that has the wow factor, having been positioned to take full advantage of the garden views.

“The house has been built with ourselves in mind,” says Ann. “Everything is bespoke and everything has been very well thought out and includes little details that most people wouldn’t even think about. If anyone appreciates quality fixings and so on, they can see they have been used here.

“We’ve put a lot of thought and a lot of love and attention into it, so deciding to sell it certainly hasn’t been a snap decision.”

As well as being a newly-built home, complete with 10-year warranty, it also has generous grounds. All in all, there are four acres that are mainly laid to lawn but include mature borders and a variety of trees. It overlooks the grounds of the National Trust’s Packwood House and there are plenty of walks to enjoy, too.

As well as the main house, there is a detached triple car garage with apartment above that provides 783 sq ft of living accommodation with underfloor heating throughout, including open plan living with a fitted kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. An additional building, The Stables, also has underfloor heating and comprises a large recreation room, shower and plant room. All fixtures and fittings are premium.

Agents always say it’s about location, location, location. While Long Meadow feels secluded, it is just five minutes by car to Dorridge.

“It is so convenient for Warwick, Stratford and Birmingham,” says Ann, “And Lapworth station is just a couple of minutes away so it’s easy to get to London. It’s the perfect location.”
