Another unique house that has been created inside a former church on the slopes of the Malvern Hills is being offered for sale.

The Porch House is one of four residences that were created inside the 19th century St Peter’s Church in Green Lane, Malvern Wells, after it underwent an award-winning transformation in 2002.

We featured Nave House, a four-bedroom three-bathroom home created in the nave end of the church in Post Property on July 16.

Now The Porch House is available, offering three bedrooms and two bathrooms across three floors.

And just like Nave House, The Porch House is a striking combination of pre-Victorian (the church was built in 1836) Gothic revival-style ecclesiastical architecture and clever 21st century design.

The skill with which the whole project was done was recognised when it was given a Civic Trust Award upon its completion.

The Porch House is entered through the original oak door of the north porch.

There is limestone flag flooring, a stone arched window and French doors to the inner hall.

On the ground floor there is a double bedroom with en suite bathroom, laundry/utility room and store room/cloak room.

The main living space is on the first floor and has full height windows and exposed stone walls.

A full height stone arched window adds drama in the kitchen, which is fitted with a range of solid maple units under polished granite work surfaces and has a stainless steel range cooker with six-burner gas hob.

On the second floor there is another double bedroom (currently used as an office) with built-in wardrobes and far reaching views. There is also a recently refurbished shower room.

The master bedroom suite occupies the rest of the second floor as well as a third floor mezzanine.

It sits under pitch pine roof trusses and is lit by three lancet windows and a large roof window.

There are little courtyard areas outside The Porch House while nearby footpaths give almost immediate access to the hills.

It is two and half miles from Malvern town centre, 10 miles from Worcester and 38 from Birmingham.

Trains run from Malvern Stations direct to Birmingham and London. Motorway access is via junction 7 of the M5.
