An Indian street food restaurant coming to Moseley has announced it will open in the New Year.

Original plans for Zindiya had the eatery opening before Christmas but that has now been delayed due to legal and building issues.

The new official opening date is January 26, 2017.

Shivani Kenth, one of the owners of Zindiya, said: "It was a disappointment as we’ve had an overwhelming response in anticipation of Zindiya opening this year.

"We had everything in place, from chefs and staff to fixtures and fittings but unfortunately we have encountered issues well beyond our control despite our best efforts."

The restaurant will feature a menu of small authentic dishes designed to be shared between customers. The most expensive dish on the menu will cost £8. The owners feel the menu will suit people looking to eat out without spending large sums in January.

Shivani added: "January is a notoriously difficult month for anyone to open as people are still feeling the impact of Christmas on their pockets.

"We are more upbeat however as our food is served as small, tapas style plates, the same as you would get on the streets of India, and it allows people to share a few plates and bring down the cost, perfect for those who want something quality but affordable.

"That’s what you get in India and it was our dream to bring a bit of the Indian colour, vibrancy and value to Moseley.”

The cocktail menu will be designed by Robert Wood, who recently opened the secret bar Smultronställe.

Alongside this will be the Indian-inspired afternoon tea which will include sandwich pakoras, cardamom scones and chai-infused prosecco.
