The beer and the festive cheer are now in full flow at Birmingham's German Market.

The Frankfurt-inspired attraction in Victoria Square - which has stalls offering food, drink and gifts as well as a carousel for kids - was this weekend joined by the adjoining craft market, Big Wheel and Ice Rink in nearby Centenary Square.

It's bringing a sociable, seasonal feel to Birmingham city centre as we count down towards Christmas.

And residents and tourists alike have been in town enjoying a drink... or several.

There's not just gluhwein or beer, but also hot chocolate and some cheekily-named beverages including Flirt and Hot Love.

For the food lovers, there's the challenge of a half-metre bratwurst as well as loads of other varieties of sausage and a few vegetarian options.

There are plenty of other bars and eateries in the city centre if none of that takes your fancy and you just want to walk through the market admiring the displays and pretty lights.

Have you been to the German Market yet? What did you think?

There's plenty of time to get there as it's on until December 29 this year, to mark the 50th anniversary of the twinning between Birmingham and Frankfurt.
