A Midland manufacturer is to create 25 new jobs this year after opening a new advanced engineering centre.

RDM Group aims to hit £25 million in sales on the back of a £400,000 investment in an additional 20,000 sq ft facility on the Bilton Industrial Estate, Coventry.

The fast growing firm, which currently employs 38 people, aims to bring new projects to its engineering centre after buying two state-of-the-art CNC machines, three injection moulding machines, a three-axis router, laser engraver, the latest CAD/CAM software and a dedicated area for vehicle conversions and builds.

Backed by support from Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership (CWLEP) Growing Places fund, the company expects to develop new business, repatriate sub-contracted production from China and promote its capability to produce special vehicles and low volume builds.

Graham Keene, finance director at RDM, added: “We are expecting sales to rise from £6 million to £10 million in 2014, with a target of £25 million by 2018…it sounds ambitious but we believe this investment gives us the platform to achieve it.

“Whilst automotive is our main area at the moment, we will also be looking to take our engineering solutions to customers involved in aerospace, marine and specialist trim.”

David Keene, chairman of RDM Group, said: “Our expert engineers have been increasingly involved in specialist projects that are taking vehicle design and technology to new levels.”
