Shakespeares is marking Family Dispute Resolution Week by helping to raise awareness of the role early intervention can play in resolving family disputes.

Family Dispute Resolution Week is a national initiative organised by family law organisation, Resolution.

The week, which runs from November 24-28, aims to promote some of the non-confrontational options separating couples and their families should consider.

Christine Patterson, partner at Shakespeares’ Birmingham office and her colleagues, will be giving up their time to conduct initial options meetings with people involved in a family dispute.

Those who take up the offer will be asked to make a donation of £50+vat, which will be donated to one of three local charities – St Basils, Birmingham Children’s Hospital or Allenscroft Charitable Trust.

Ms Patterson said: “Family disputes are often very emotionally-charged and they can create an enormous amount of stress for those involved.

“Dispute resolution can help to diffuse the situation and speed up the resolution process for all those concerned, particularly if it begins at an early stage.
