Law firm Trowers & Hamlins has appointed a new partner in its Birmingham office.

Chris Plumley joins the Colmore Row firm's public sector commercial team, having previously been lead partner in the local government practice at Anthony Collins Solicitors.

There, he specialised in public sector property development and regeneration projects.

Mr Plumley is said to be a passionate advocate for complex urban renewal projects who is capable of unlocking developments, having earned the trust of a large number of local authority chief executives over his many years of service in the public sector.

He said: "Building new places for people to live and work is surely one of the most exciting parts of working hand-in-glove with local authorities and other public bodies.

"Whether we call it place shaping, urban renewal or regeneration, making a difference to the built environment has been at the heart of my career for many years.

"I am delighted to be able to bring my extensive network and track record to the already strong team at Trowers & Hamlins."

James Hawkins, partner and head of public sector commercial at Trowers & Hamlins, added: "Chris has built a strong reputation among key players in public authority-led urban regeneration projects.

"His experience and expertise has helped bring forward many high-profile projects with his genuine care for the communities in which he works."

Head of office Amardeep Gill said: "As we continue to build our business in Birmingham, this significant appointment demonstrates our commitment to being part of the growth and development of the Midlands.

"With the rise of the regions in the UK and the importance of the Midlands Engine in the UK economy, we want to be fully equipped to help deliver large urban projects across the UK, Chris will be instrumental in helping us do just that."
