Mills & Reeve has been reappointed to the legal panel of London Universities Purchasing Consortium (LUPC) after a competitive tender process.

LUPC is a professional purchasing organisation that acts on behalf of over 60 member institutions made up of universities and colleges as well as government agencies, research organisations and museums and other cultural establishments.

Mills & Reeve is one of seven firms to have been appointed from an initial pool of 20 that responded to the tender, scoring the highest on service delivery.

They will provide legal support across employment, commercial, disputes, property and constitutional law.

The firm is a provider of legal services to the education and charities sectors, acting for more than 120 universities, colleges, national agencies, academies, educational businesses and 250 charities.

It is ranked in the top tier for charities work by legal directory Chambers UK.

The new legal framework started this month and will run for three years with an option to extend for one year.

The framework will be open to all LUPC members, with a new special focus on museums and other cultural institutions, which includes some existing clients of the firm such as the British Council, the British Library and the British Film Institute.

LUPC members currently spend around £13 million per year on legal services of which £3.6 million went through the existing LUPC framework agreement in 2012/2013.

Richard Sykes, employment partner at the Birmingham office of Mills & Reeve, said: "We are delighted to have been reappointed to the LUPC's panel.

"Our experience in the specialist sectors in which the LUPC members operate means that we can help them stay on top of the very wide range of legal issues facing them in an increasingly complex environment."
