Mills & Reeve has advised Coventry University on the creation and development of its new £14 million campus in Scarborough.

The purpose-built campus will open in September 2016 and will include a library, IT suites, café, mock law court and engineering and science labs. The development will be part of an integrated £45 million sports and education facility.

Mills & Reeve’s real estate team in Birmingham advised on the acquisition and development of the land, including access and parking as well as negotiating interim arrangements pending completion of the new build.

Vice-Chancellor of Coventry University, Professor John Latham, said: “This is a massively important project for Coventry University, Scarborough and the regional economy. It will bring transformational economic and social impact by enhancing the education, skills and career prospects of local people, but, as the student numbers grow, it will bring an increasingly positive economic impact on the town.”

Christian Bull, real estate partner at Mills & Reeve, said: “This is an exciting new venture for Coventry University. Its investment in Scarborough will significantly help to regenerate the area and expand the higher education offering in the region.”
