Law firm Freeths has made two promotions within its Birmingham office.

The firm's recent round of promotions has seen Perveen Akhter step up to partner in the construction team and Ateeq Ahmed is now a director in the corporate team.

The pair has a combined total of more than 20 years of experience in the Birmingham legal market.

Ms Akhter joined Freeths last year from Shakespeare Martineau as a senior associate.

Her experience includes work in both the private and public sector with a specialism in non-contentious building procurement and renewable energy products.

In her new role as partner, she will continue to oversee the company's growing portfolio of construction clients in Birmingham, working closely with the real estate, energy and corporate teams.

Mr Ahmed has been involved in the growth of the Birmingham corporate team over the last three years and, during the past year, has advised a number of major corporates including Travis Perkins and Tarmac.

Managing partner Richard Beverley said: "Our Birmingham office is experiencing a period of substantial growth and, while this means we're bringing a lot of new people to the firm, we're still committed to developing the talented individuals already here."

Head of the corporate team Lee Clifford added: "I'd like to congratulate both Perveen and Ateeq on their promotions.

"They are very well deserved and this allows both of them to not only progress their own careers but add value to our clients with their substantial experience."
