The Birmingham office of law firm Irwin Mitchell is hosting an event to highlight what businesses and individuals need to do to prepare for a fundraising exercise, an IPO or a voluntary exit.

The early evening session on September 11, which is targeted at medium to large-sized organisations, is being run in conjunction with Board Evaluation and will provide advice on a range of issues from financial strategy to getting the board and senior management team right.

The first guest speaker will be Jean Pousson from Board Evaluation.

Mr Pousson is a management consultant with more than 20 years’ experience working with boards, coaching executives and delivering training assignments in the fields of finance, strategy, risk and board performance.

He will look at the latest thinking in strategy and assess the link between strategy and success.

Irwin Mitchell corporate partner Nick Dawson, who specialises in corporate, M&A and private equity work, will also be presenting.

Mr Dawson has more than ten years’ experience advising on all aspects of corporate finance work including raising finance, acquisitions and disposals for corporate clients and individuals.

He will highlight the focus that acquirers and funders place on due diligence and how to proactively manage and prepare a business for funding and exits.

Following the presentations, there will be a panel session allowing attendees to question representatives from the banking, corporate finance and VC markets.

Chris Rawstron, partner and head of business legal services at Irwin Mitchell in Birmingham said: “This event will provide valuable insight into what businesses need to do so that they are fully prepared for a fundraising exercise or planned exit.

“It is designed to be interactive and also provide a valuable networking opportunity for all guests.”

The free event takes place at Irwin Mitchell’s offices on 31 Temple Street in Birmingham between 5.30pm and 7.30pm. To reserve a place email gary.cowdrill@board-evaluation.co.uk.
