Black Country law firm Higgs & Sons has advised Kirkby Steel Tubes on its acquisition of Eccles-based steel stockholding company Hilmar Tubes.

The Higgs corporate team, led by Nick Taylor and supported by Jamie Partington, was able to complete the deal within a tight deadline.

Patrick Doyle, managing director of Kirkby Steel Tubes, said: “Our business strategy is to look continually for new opportunities to satisfy our customers’ needs more completely, and the team at Higgs really helped us to make this deal happen.

"As such we were able to move quickly while also finding solutions to some difficult questions.”

Mr Taylor said: “We were delighted to act for KST on this transaction, which, in Hilmar, saw it acquire a company with a similarly rich heritage and strong values.

“The deal had to move to a tight timeframe but a great result was achieved, securing a number of jobs for the future in the process.”

Kirkby Steel Tubes, which is part of the Walsall-based Watts Clift Holdings Group, supplies welded steel tubes and their components across many market sectors including automotive, oil drilling and pressure vessels, while also specialising in products used in the pneumatic conveying industry.

Its 50,000 sq ft warehouse in St Helens services customers in the UK, Europe, Africa and the Far East.
